Heat Transfer Labels vs Woven Labels

Heat transfer labels are the correct choice when interior comfort is a priority — they have no physical edge or stitching that can irritate skin, making them the standard for underwear, activewear, childrenswear, and any garment worn close to the body. They are also faster to apply than sewn labels (heat press application takes 8–12 seconds per garment) and eliminate the sewing step in garment finishing. The trade-off is durability: transfer labels have a finite wash cycle rating (typically 50–80+ washes), whereas woven labels are effectively permanent for the life of the garment. Woven labels are the correct choice for outerwear, denim, workwear, and any garment where the label is expected to outlast heavy use and repeated industrial washing.

Transfer labels can include all required care label content: ISO 3758 care symbols, fiber content percentage, country of origin, and size information on a single label. This makes them a compliant alternative to sewn care labels in all major export markets including the US (FTC Care Labeling Rule), EU (Regulation No 1007/2011), UK, and Australia.
